Speaking
Our church in France was an all-hands-on deck kind of church. We rotated the responsibilities of planning services, leading worship, and speaking. I was reluctant, insisting that with my accent, others were better placed to be up front. My French friends told me to get over it. And so I did.
Later, after we moved back to the US, I worked for the Church of the United Brethren in Christ and had the opportunity to speak at churches, often presenting our partnership with a hospital in Sierra Leone, which was the focus of my job.
I currently speak bi-monthly at Fairhaven Mennonite Church and occasionally at my own church, Anchor Community.
I love settling into a passage of scripture and bringing a group along with me as we explore the world it was written in and what it might mean for us.
“When Michelle speaks, she takes us on an adventure, exploring biblical text with fresh new eyes. Her off- the-beaten-path approach is reflective, open, touched with humor and illustrations you will remember long after she speaks. Her love for God and all people is at the heart of everything she says and does. I always anticipate hearing her speak.”
